A Kate Moss Moment

...brought to you by this month's Vogue Hommes International. Yes, we design men's clothing. But the only way we get through an entire day is by taking breaks to look at girls.

Welcome To Our Backyard

The best way to describe our neighbourhood is that it resembles New York City's Meatpacking district in more than one way. We're right on the water and just down the street from the Atwater Market, where butcher shops, cafes and local produce suppliers give you best that Quebec has to offer. The area has a grungy chip on its shoulder, and it's becoming kind of a hub for creative types (there are quite a few music and movie studios next to us). We chose this area because it reflected our personalities and the creative nature of our brand.

When we need to feel inspired, a quick walk in the backyard gets the creative juices flowing. You can see the high-rises of downtown Montreal in the background, and we're nestled under Westmount in a kind of serene place. The building you see here is where the entire Dom Rebel world exists. Our head office and design departments are here, as well as our workshop where we make every single Dom Rebel piece. And, right next to the French bistro downstairs is our Punk & Doll Gallery, which you'll be hearing more of shortly.

Julian Casablancas - 11th Dimension

Julian Casablancas released his solo album last year, Phrazes for the Young. We've been loving it quite a bit, it's got some interesting style mixes. For those of you that don't know, Julian is the lead singer of The Strokes. This is the music video for 11th Dimension.

A Damn Good Pair Of Jeans

Selvage Denim. Japanese Denim. Heavy Weight. Light Weight. Italian. American. Whatever your preference, there are plenty of great jeans out there on the market. More today than probably ever before. And I've got a whole bunch...well enough to say that over the past ten years, i've had the chance to formulate my own opinion on what makes a great jean. After several pairs of Japanese selvage or Italian-sewn jeans, my favorite has to be my cheap, 79.99$ Levis 510X Skinny Jeans. I've been wearing these bad boys for 11 months, bought them raw, and I must say that I'm enjoying them more than any Nudie, APC, Diesel or Dsquared jean before them. Not that those guys don't make awesome jeans. But the 510X's have withstood more wear and abuse than any other jean I've ever owned. And of course, the best thing about wearing raw jeans for months, is that they take on the shape of your body and end up being the most comfortable things ever. So here's an ode to you, you fabulous 510X's. You have served well for the past 11 months, and I think you're ready for your first wash...

Hot Chip - "I Feel Better"

This song has been playing so much at our office lately that we figured we'd share it with you as well. Hot Chip is awesome, and so is their music video for "I Feel Better". The real band makes a cameo at 3:09, just as Carl Winslow starts shooting laser beams out of his eyes (remember him from Family Matters? Well technically it's not him, but we'll call him Carl anyways).

The Workshop Is Buzzing...

...as we detail the Dom Rebel Fall 2010 collection. We are always excited about every collection we do, but this one is by far our favorite to date. There are a lot of changes and a lot of new detailing and embellishment techniques. As people and as a brand, we have always challenged ourselves to take we do to the next level. When it comes to our products, our objective is to step it up from the previous season, and we've done that ever since we started making t-shirts in the now infamous basement days. It's why you'll always see us changing it up, trying to reinvent ourselves, our brand, and our products each and every season, while maintaining the essence of Dom Rebel - creativity, freedom, attention to detail, quality and a desire for all things that represent individualism. Our workshop is where this essence comes to life, through our products...

What It's All About (Part Deux)...

Habs beat Penguins in Game 7. Riot cops are out again. The city hasn't been this alive since 1993, the last time the Canadiens won the cup. Unfortunately, after most of the real fans left the streets, some wannabe gangsters looted the Foot Locker, Guess, H&M, and SAQ (Montreal's liquor store chain) on Sainte-Catherine Street.

From The Archives...

We have compiled quite an archive collection of t-shirts since we started Dom Rebel in 2003. Every once in a while, we like to pull out a few pieces and get all nostalgic. One of our favorite pieces was this Hardrock Homeboy tee from 2005. Not much has changed in terms of how our shirts are made since then. The main difference is that instead of making them in our backyard, we now have a workshop where we work on every single piece by hand, giving it a unique character.

Wuzzup HALAK

A pretty damn good tribute from some Montreal fans to the spectacular play of Jaroslav Halak in the playoffs. Best part of the video is when Alexander Ovechkin picks up the phone.
